PhD (Carnegie Mellon University)
Faculty, Computer Science
Pedro Santos obtained his PhD in Mathematical Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003, and has taught at Carnegie Mellon University, University of Lisbon and Webster University Geneva. His research activity lies in the areas of the calculus of variations and partial differential equations, namely as it is focused on problems of lower semi-continuity, relaxation, and gamma-convergence for functional of integral type. His other interests are in differential inclusions and Fourier analysis, as well as applications to contemporary problems in materials sciences including composites, magnetic materials, thin structures and phase transitions.
