Jorgensen to Present on Consumer Surveillance

Jorgensen

Dr. Rebekah Jorgensen, Program Coordinator of the Masters in Media Communications at Webster Geneva, and media professor, has extensively studied the topic of "Consumer Surveillance" on the Internet and innovative ways consumers are fighting back to protect their privacy. Recently interviewed by Dukascopy Television in Geneva, Dr. Jorgensen discussed the key issues, some of the strategies consumers and advocates for consumer protections are employing, and why consumer Internet literacy is important in all sectors.

Following her research in Washington DC and Los Angeles this summer with the Center for Digital Democracy, the Consumer Federation of America, the Directors and Writers Guilds of America, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation among others, Dr. Jorgensen will present her findings about the increasing confrontation of commercial interests vs. public interests at the 2015 Media Trends Conference on "Power and the Media: Ownership, Sponsorship, Censorship" at Webster University Vienna on September 10-12, 2015. She will also moderate a panel on "State and Corporate Control of the Media" on September 11.
