Psychology professor Liza Jachens received a publication award for her contribution to mental health research from the renowned Institute of Mental Health, a partnership between Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and the University of Nottingham. The institute is one of the leading mental health institutes in the UK. The award winning article “Effort-Reward Imbalance and Heavy Alcohol Consumption Among Humanitarian Aid Workers” was recently published in the Journal of Studies in Alcohol and Drugs. The main aim objective of this research was to: “- explore the prevalence of heavy alcohol consumption and its association with stress-related working conditions-defined in terms of effort-reward imbalance (ERI)-among a large sample of humanitarian aid workers operating across four continents.” (Jachens et al, 2016)
