Utrecht Creativity Symposium

Creativity Symposium On the 5th of October the Webster Center for Creativity and Innovation (WCCI) at Webster Geneva Campus and the United Platform of Creativity in Education (UPCE) at Utrecht University co-organized an international symposium in Utrecht on the topic of “Creativity from an embodied and situated view”.

The event included a series of presentations covering various themes related to embodiment, affordances, divergent thinking, insight, trauma work, art making, etc., considered from different disciplinary perspective: from cognitive and clinical to sociocultural.

It marked one of few scientific gatherings focused on this cutting-edge topic within a variety of disciplines including creativity research. Vlad Glaveanu, the Director of the WCCI and Head of the Psychology and Counseling Department, gave a keynote titled “Embodied creativity: A social and cultural perspective” and Catherine Butterly, MA in Counseling coordinator, and Cynthia Frances Uccello presented work done in the Common Threads Project in a talk titled “Weaving creativity into therapy: Embodiment and textile art”.

The meeting was well attended by colleagues from Utrecht, from Europe and from abroad.
