On Nov. 13, 2019, the Media Communications Department hosted a seminar that explored the secrets to successful negotiation and the Gig Economy.

Forde Hvaring, Chair of the Digital Leadership Lab at Geneva Business School and a “HR doctor” who specializes in helping companies optimize their human resources, explained how a shift towards a Gig Economy changes negotiations between employees and their employers. This new business model brings with it new expectations and modes of work and demand greater flexibility in order to attract talent.

Drawing on her academic expertise and professional practice as senior adviser at the United Nations, Kasia Jagodzinska presented her concept of 360 negotiation. This human-centered approach to negotiation aims to forge long-lasting relationships and agreements. Some of the keys to successful negotiation include defining a clear objective, understanding our counterpart and their motives and interests and mastering our impression management through the careful use of verbal and nonverbal communication.
